Kapilya nina Hesus at Maria, Baguio

This was our first stop during our trip in Baguio and it gave us one heck of an exercise to start the day. Who knew there were so many stairs to get to the grotto? 252 steps to be exact! Plus, I was carrying my 3-year-old son while walking up the elevated road and climbing up the stairs while... catching... every... breath.

Let's stop and take a selfie.

Are we there yet?

I literally felt like passing out upon reaching the top but we were greeted by the image of the very beautiful Mary. And just as it is written on the grotto, “TUTA PULCHRA ES, MARIA” which is Latin for “You are all beautiful, Mary” fitted her just perfectly.

Beside the grotto was a small chapel, “Kapilya nina Hesus at Maria” as it’s written on the sign outside the chapel. The place is very peaceful and I loved its cozy wood and stone architecture. It was so beautiful & tranquil and the view did not even betray this sanctuary.

On the way down, we also found an all-white statue of The Risen Lord so we stopped by to take pictures as well. This place is actually a pilgrimage site and devotees usually come here during the Holy Week.

The Lord and My Love.

We also found a taho vendor and finally tasted their famous strawberry taho which is an absolute must-try for every tourist visiting Baguio. It was so sweet and had whole strawberries in them (ooooh).

And just like every other routine of mine, I managed to take a couple of Instagrammable shots here as well before heading to our next stop, the Dominican Hill & Retreat House or better known as The Haunted Diplomat Hotel.
